Get off the Hamster Wheel! Learn to Make Money Without Fear
In a previous post, I talked about the differences between love-based money and fear-based money. I also discussed how it’s possible to use each concept to attract money. If you didn’t catch that post or want to review it, click here.
Today, let’s talk about how you can make money without fear.
If you have any of the following occurring, you’re bringing in money with fear:
You keep landing the wrong type of client. These are the clients who are just not a good fit. More than likely, you do not enjoy working with them. They are high maintenance, never happy, and you dread speaking to them on the phone. They may even ask for refunds, or complain about you to others.
“Issues” keep popping up in your business. The issues can be a variety of things including your team, your system, your technology or even your vendors. In short, you spend more time putting out fires than you do working on your business.
You find your mental and physical health is suffering. This shows up as anxiety, exhaustion and a lack of focus and energy. When left unchecked, you discover it flows into other areas of your life.
You work too hard and make too little. You’re spinning your wheels or feel like you’re in a hamster wheel as you try to land the next client or sell another project so you can get ahead of the curve. The problem is, you don’t get ahead. You’re always behind.
You have to force things to happen, or at least you feel like you have to. Everything seems to be an emergency – even your tasks. You keep pushing harder, working harder, trying harder, so one day you can put your feet up and relax because you finally “made it.” In reality, this never happens.
You feel worse when you make more money. Sounds ironic, doesn’t it? What this means is the more you make, the more problems you’ll face. Instead of worrying about not having enough, now you’ll worry about losing it.
So what do you need to do when you realize you’re attracting money out of fear?
Let’s talk about that.
The first thing to understand is when you focus on building a loved-based business is you discover that seems to just come together. They just flow. You’ll have less anxiety, stress, overwhelm, and anger. You can enjoy building your business instead.
Start now with these four steps to begin attracting money effortlessly:
1: Break the hold of fear-based emotions with a shift in your perspective.
You can do this with a two-step process:
- Step 1 – Assess your fear-based emotions. When you feel worry, anxiety, fear, or anger creep up, take an assessment. Maybe it’s time to do a course correction or maybe you’re just stepping a little out of your comfort zone.
- Step 2 – Move the energy of those emotions. Go ahead and feel those emotions, breathe them in – then confront them with rational thoughts.
2: Make the shift in your mindset to love and abundance.
This needs to be a daily habit. Start your day in a love-based emotion by integrating activities that will reinforce these emotions.
You can meditate, practice gratitude, practice affirmations, journal, exercise, pray, use visualization exercises or combine any of the above.
I’ve done this daily, and it changed my life. I know it will change yours.
3: Recognize your limiting beliefs and change them
When you have thoughts like: “I don’t deserve to make money” or “No one wants what I’m offering,” you’re dealing with a limiting belief.
Limiting beliefs can be obvious or hidden, but no matter which they are, they hamper you from reaching your goals.
As those thoughts come to mind, take a moment to identify the stories that created these beliefs and work to move past them. For instance, let’s say you work a job you hate. You want to leave, but you know if you do, you’ll disappoint your family. You stay in the job, but it finally starts affecting your relationships. Recognize that the story keeping you in that job is built on the fear of letting them down. Once you do that, you can move on and take action.
4: Listen to your gut (aka your intuition)
Trust your intuition. The more you do, the less control your inner critics will have. You’ll move forward with your goals much easier.
BONUS TIP: Keep your focus on the outcome you want.
The more you stay focused the easier the outcome will manifest itself. Just keep in mind that your desired outcome may not look exactly like the way you thought it would.
Stay committed to your desire. Don’t stay attached to how it unfolds.
For example, a colleague of mine launched a product that was a disaster. Instead of forcing things with an emergency plan to try to save it, she relaxed. Even though the launch was a failure, the money she sought came from different avenues. She was still able to reach the people she wanted and make money; it just didn’t go as she has originally expected.
You don’t have to live in a fear-based mindset. Recognize what you’re doing and make the necessary changes to a love-based mindset.
