3 Keys to Success and Making an Impact with Love-Based Online Marketing

As a mindful, mission-driven, spiritual entrepreneur, you know it’s important to make an impact on the world.

One of your goals is to conduct and grow your business in a way that feels good. Traditional systems just seem too…systematic. They cramp your style.

Maybe you’re thinking, “What?!? Fall in love with my marketing? Am I crazy?”

No, I don’t think you’re crazy. Just hear me out.

There’s a benefit to loving your marketing. Hint: it’s like smiling right before you answer your phone.

People can sense when you’re passionate about your business. It will signal to them that you’re the one they want to work with. You will inspire them!

Another bonus you might consider: when you love your marketing, you’re more apt to (gulp) market yourself! The side benefit of marketing yourself? You have more opportunities to make an impact on the world.

HOW can you fall in love with your online marketing and get those warm fuzzy feelings?

It’s all about your mindset.

So, before we can get to the how we have to address why don’t you like marketing.

  • Do you struggle with feelings of insecurity because you aren’t “good” at it?
  • Or maybe you feel it requires too much from you – especially requiring things you don’t like to do?
  • Do you take it way too seriously?
  • Are you struggling financially and marketing has become a life-or-death confrontation?

What if you shifted your mindset and perspective and told yourself this:

There are numerous online marketing tactics. There has got to be one, two, or more that I can enjoy and possibly even love!

To help you get started, here is a partial list (and I do mean partial):

  • Coaching (Yup! You can use your coaching in your marketing)
  • Speaking engagements (in-person or virtually)
  • Being Interviewed for podcasts or summits (in-person or virtually)
  • Writing – emails, articles, blog posts
  • Being a guest on a TV or radio program

Key 2 – Dissolve Any Resistance You Have to Marketing

Choosing a love-based marketing strategy is only one step. It won’t work if you’re still resisting.

I encourage people to use love-based emotions (like hope) to sell their products and services.

Yet, for many, including possibly you, the conscious, spiritual entrepreneur, even love-based marketing can trigger so many fears, such as:

  • Fear of putting yourself out there
  • Fear of failing
  • Fear of losing any “free” time
  • Fear of losing all your money
  • Fear of selling yourself

Why not take a moment to ponder what fears appear when you think about marketing?

Your resistance to marketing can be a bit misleading. While you may think you’re afraid of one thing, you may actually be afraid of another.

To help, I have a two-part exercise for you to determine what fears are triggered.

Exercise – Part One

First, grab a piece of paper and pen, then write down any and all of the frustrations you have with marketing.

Here are some examples:

  • No time for marketing.
  • Feel terrible at it.
  • Feel like the only way to sell is to be like a cheesy infomercial.

After you've listed all your frustrations and dislikes about marketing, ask yourself some deeper questions:

  • Why don’t you have time for marketing?
  • Why do you feel terrible at it?
  • What emotions come up when you think about marketing?

Exercise – Part Two

Now that you’ve written down all the reasons you dislike marketing, and have thought deeper into “why” behind those feelings, consider shifting your mindset.

Reminder yourself that you have a product or service that people can use to transform their lives, and when you help change lives, you’re changing the world!

Also, when you use love-based online marketing, you create space for choices from your potential clients:

Choice #1 – Work with you and experience their transformation.

Choice #2 – Don’t work with you and don’t experience their transformation.

It seems kind of simple, doesn’t it? Are you experiencing less resistance?

Key 3 – Come from a Place of Love

Have you ever really wondered why marketing seems so…sleazy? Maybe even “arm-twisty”?

That’s because traditional marketing copy uses fear-based emotions to coerce you to buy.

You don’t have to resort to using fear-based emotions.

Instead, you can use emotions like love, joy, and hope to sell your products and services. Notice these are love-based, positive emotions.

When you use love-based marketing copy, you let your ideal prospects make a choice between a transformation and the status quo. You’re taking away the pressure and giving them the space to choose to work with you or not.

One suggestion you can use in your love-based copy is to touch on their pain and then paint the picture of how their life will be transformed by your product or service. Then let them decide to work with you, or not.

Either choice they make, you’ll both feel good with your marketing.

Your business will grow by attracting and empowering people to say “yes” to their own transformation instead of dragging them along for the ride.
