5 Strategies to Getting Unstuck in Business

getting unstuck

When was the last time you had “one of those days”?

You know what I’m talking about – those days when you feel you've done everything possible to grow your business and nothing is working.

With the summer months coming on, you might feel like hiding out on a deserted beach instead of facing a long, dry business season.

Believe me, I get it. It’s just not possible to be “on” all the time. Some days, you’ll experience the highs from a great business where you’re on top of the world. And then other days you’ll experience the lows and want to give up. You may even start to isolate yourself. Let me tell you from experience, isolation will drive you toward failure.

When you are an entrepreneur, feeling stuck is normal. What is not normal is staying stuck.

Since I know you are serious about growing your business, I’m going to share with you five strategies for getting ‘unstuck’.

Strategy #1 – Attract new customers with an irresistible free offer (IFO).

When you can solve someone’s pain, or provide a delight, they will keep coming back to learn from you. A simple way you can attract new customers is having an IFO available. Take the time to write a solid article that shows them how to alleviate part of their pain. Or create a short video series or CD with valuable content, and then make it available to new prospects via your website.

If you already have an IFO, now is a great time to spruce it up.

Strategy #2 –Capture names and email addresses with an opt-in on your site.

In exchange for your IFO, capture their name and email address using an opt-in. This is a fantastic exchange for both parties. You’ve got a way to help them with their issue via your IFO. They give you their information, and now you’ve got new contacts to serve. Win-win!

Strategy #3 – Surprise your list with a ‘gift’.

One way I generate activity and interaction with my list is to change up my “25 Ways to Grow Your Business” list. Then I send it as a PDF document to my audience. It’s a surprise for them. It delights them. In turn, I get to interact with my list.

You can do this easily by sending an e-book, a video, or an audio link. The point is to get creative and be generous with that creativity.

Strategy #4 – Catch up with clients and friends with Friday phone calls.

On my Friday office days, I make five surprise phone calls to clients (former and current) and friends. My goal is to check in with them, see how they are doing, and provide support. These random, spontaneous calls are very well received.

Think about it. How many people pick up the phone to check in and see how a friend is doing? Not many.

Strategy #5 – Get out on the patio and start networking.

Take advantage of the summer! You don’t have to be sequestered to a meeting room to network.

Invite a colleague or contact for a patio lunch. Encourage them to bring someone with them – preferably someone you’ve never met. Enjoy an afternoon patio lunch, make a new friend, and grow your network.

Bonus Strategy – Find a coach and join a mastermind group.

Remember when I said isolation can lead you toward failure?

Well it does. When you work in isolation, fear, overwhelm, and worry will invade. You’ll find yourself being mastered by negativity.

Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. You need energy. You need drive.  You need determination. You need someone in your corner. That’s where a coach and mastermind group comes in.

Want to quit being your own worst enemy? Then take this strategy seriously.

A couple more options that I’ll briefly mention – attend a workshop, schedule a VIP Planning Session with a business coach.

The point is this: It’s time to get your act together – create a game plan – and get moving because the world needs your message.

What one action step will you take TODAY?
